S4 EP19 Ben Lewis

Ben Lewis is a lifelong music enthusiast, whose unique upbringing around pubs and clubs fostered an affinity for music and event management. With over 15 years of experience in media, Ben opted to change trajectory and opened Roots Music in Bellingen, utilising the space to not only provide Bellingen with music and instrumentation but also a space to experience live music. Fast forward a few years, Ben was at the helm of our beloved Federal Hotel, booking acts and hosting mini festivals. This experience and success led to Ben undertaking the organisation of two major festivals in Bellingen (Riversounds) and Coffs Harbour (Big Bonanza), and with Riversounds returning in 2025, Ben is again bringing live music to the fore in Bellingen. I sat down with Ben and discovered his unique story, discussed some of the challenges he faced, and what it is that makes him super passionate about live music and events.
